Rotten Fruit

Looks like Google+ has been seeing some decline in traffic lately...and by "some" I mean 60% according to Mashable.

Fresh Fruit - Rotten Fruit

Bad fruit first: I won't be going to the Web 2.0 Expo after all.
Some very important business came up and I'll have to miss the meeting.

Fresh fruit: Netflix has decided to kill off Qwikster, and keep both streaming and mailing DVD services under one roof. What a relief...that was such a poor business decision. Why make your customers have two separate accounts on two separate websites? Just offer three setups - just dvd, just streaming, or both.
Also, it would be terribly expensive to migrate all of that user data and DVD queues over to a new site...which means Netflix would probably forego that process and force their users to input all of that data all over again themselves. This would almost certainly cost thousands of subscribers out of annoyance.

We'll see if Netflix can bounce back from this fiasco...

Fresh Fruit

So, when I'm not blogging about the social media business, I'm working in the social media business. And the web design business...

Two big things that are coming up for me to report on:

1. The Web 2.0 Expo is running Oct 10-13, and I'm almost definitely going. I have to wait for my press badge clearance to go through ... but assuming it does, I'll be able to report on ripe, juicy news like some new interface technologies Google hasn't released yet, how Hotmail plans to make a comeback, updates on Mozilla's Firefox, and various other marketing keynotes.

2. My company, Suits & Sandals Marketing + Design, has been working on a redesign of our website for the past 4 months. The launch is scheduled for this week, and I'm pretty pumped about it. Check back here for the official launch notice.
